The Land Law regulated private property mainly in agricultural areas of Brazil, thus increasing oligarchic powers with political connections to the imperial government. Many lost their right to own land and consequently the right to subsistence. Overall, access to land by the low-income population was hindered and little has been done over the years to make legal access to land possible. This process of alienation from land as an essential good continues to this day, and in the urban environment, informal occupations are common to most Brazilian cities. In the town of Bonfim, state of Roraima, a similar process of chaotic occupation has been taking place in areas not yet planned for housing, a process reinforced by the phenomenon of intense migrations from Venezuela. These areas do not have proper basic infrastructure for housing, such as water supply, sewage, electricity and asphalt paving, and yet regulatory mechanisms remain precarious. Thus, the present research approved by the UFRR Ethics Committee studied the process of irregular occupations in the more recent districts of Cidades Novas, 13 de Maio and Getúlio Vargas in inner town Bonfim within the 2011-2021 time frame. The research began with bibliographical survey, observations and photographic records. Primary data were collected from 20% of a total of 230 families residing in these areas, and also from thirteen public agents involved with these policies. Lastly, the areas were mapped out and the results were analyzed. The present discussion shows the need to implement public policies for inhabited areas and to improve the legal mechanisms for the housing sector in the town area of Bonfim. This aims to minimize conflicts between residents and to ensure effective entitlement in the city by means of legal instruments such as the Participatory Urban Plan and the Land Donation Law for housing, which are well established at the municipal level.

Environmental impacts in watersheds interfere with the availability of water resources and the environmental quality of the ecosystem and may compromise food production. The watershed of the Carrapato creek, the study site for this research, located in the rural area of the municipality of Boa Vista, in the State of Roraima, is inserted in the Savannah biome, being one of the most important drainages on the left bank of the Cauamé river, and which in recent years, it has been undergoing transformations in its landscape, resulting from various human activities such as agribusiness, family farming, livestock, fish farming, fruit growing, spa/leisure sites. And these activities make massive use of water resources, mainly in irrigation. The objective of this research was to analyze the environmental impacts resulting from human activities in the basin. For this, a bibliographical, documentary and field survey was carried out. The field stage was carried out in two distinct climatic moments, in the dry season and in the rainy season, in order to observe the hydrological behavior of the basin and the elements integrated therein. Photographic surveys were also carried out using a drone and surface photography of some specific points of the physiography of the area that characterizes the landscape of the basin. The environmental impacts identified in loco, have a direct relationship with the anthropic activities carried out in the basin, such as minings, large-scale agriculture and bathing and energy production, and were classified according to the checklist, the cheklist. A map of the basin's land cover was prepared, quantifying the proportion in area and the percentage that each class occupies, such as: grassy savannah (40%), arboreal savannah (18%), footpath (4%), riparian forest (2%), cultivation (4%), exposed soil (4%), urbanization (5%), body of water (1%), basin area (22%), in addition to identifying the impacts, where the exposed soil class appears through the removal of vegetation cover, which is an impact with greater emphasis coming from different sources and origins, being related to various human activities in the basin, and thus suggesting mitigating measures for the recovery of areas with some type of degradation.

The present dissertation proposed realize a multitemporal analyze of the last 40 years of the use and cover of the land in urban expansion areas of Boa Vista, visioning your geoenvironmental diagnose. The city of Boa Vista, capital of the State of Roraima is North bathed by the Caumé river and at East by the Branco; on South and West of the city occurs the presence of lakes and creeks. In relation to the methodological procedures, on the first phase it was realized the bibliographic lifting referring to the concepts of use and cover of the land in urban expansion areas of Boa Vista and your socioenvironmental implications on the diversity of the landscape, impacts, risks and vulnerability of uses and occupations of the ground in areas of APPs. Cartographic surveys were carried out on digital platforms of public institutions that have the geospatial database, applying techniques through the remote sensing and geoprossesing on the manipulation in SIG environment. The data processing where realized through the Google Earth Pro software and the QGIS program version 3.4, both free to use. On the last years the urban expansion of Boa Vista grew in direction to the West Zone of the city, local where are concentrated the lacustrine systems and the APPs. The urban expansion of Boa Vista is visible on lavrado areas, forests, riparian forests, where the urban mesh advances above these elements of the landscape. The results show the socioenvironmental impacts of the urban expansion over the lacustrine systems and the vegetal riparian coverage are evident on the cases of suppression and alteration of water course’s. Landfills, canalization, rectification and concreting banks of the creeks are form’s of violation of the environmental legislation and compromises the ecological functions of the hydric resources. This damages are related to the lack of planning of the use and cover of the earth suitable for urban zoning, that should respect the permanent preservation areas and the natural characteristics of the territory.

Social Cartography is considered an essential tool for analyzing the socio-environmental, economic and cultural dynamics existing in traditional urban or rural communities. Therefore, the interest in developing this research arose through carrying out practical activities that involved Social Cartography while still in the undergraduate training process, through participation in a research laboratory, as well as after participating in a geographic expedition, in which this one had as investigation place the Lower White River region. This study has the general objective of promoting, through Social Cartography, an analysis of the dynamics of land use and developing an integrated and participative diagnosis of the Sacaí Riverside Community, in Lower White River-RR. The community is geographically located in the southern region of the state of Roraima, in the municipality of Caracaraí, on the right bank of the White River. In this perspective, it was noticed the lack of research that uses Social Cartography as a tool in this scientific context of that locality. Thus, the methodology proposed here is based on the fragmentation in three moments that are considered crucial for carrying out the work, namely: I) First Stage (Academic/Pre-Field), with the completion of bibliographic research and documents; II) Second Stage (Field), at this moment Social Cartography techniques were developed, as well as the application of interviews and; III) Third Stage (Academic/Post-Field), with the development of laboratory research, through the systematization of collected data and posteriorly the making of maps. Thus, this work resulted in the development of an integrated and participative diagnosis of the limitations, problems and potential of the traditional riverside territory with the promotion of empowerment and management in the local and community space through Social Cartography. Finally, this study was aimed at understanding the dynamics of the use of the territory, as well as the territoriality and socio-environmental, economic and cultural organization of the Riverside Community of Sacaí.

The present work is about the challenge of the practice of developing livestock projects through agriculture in indigenous communities in Roraima, specifically in the Jabuti Indigenous community, composed of Macuxi and Wapixana peoples who inhabit the Indigenous Land of the same name, Jabuti, in the municipality of Bonfim. Since the majority of indigenous communities in Roraima still maintain a subsistence agriculture culture, and in view of this perspective, in order to develop a way of agricultural production in their territories that is different from the conventional one, many communities have sought to change the way of managing agriculture in their lands, as is the case of this Indigenous Land. In a territory of 14,210 hectares, ratified in 1996 under decree 1775, they are seeking to equate the development of productive activities aiming at environmental, cultural, economic, and social sustainability. From the agricultural projects installed in this territory, the indigenous people seek to expand and make effective their source of income, breaking the paradigm of subsistence economy, since it is an area that has significant land subsidies, because in such an extension of the area, only this community usufructs the whole territory. Therefore, this research sought to analyze the projects installed in this Indigenous Land, describing the problems faced during the years 2021-2022 in developing these projects and whether in fact they contributed to the economic and social development of the indigenous population in question.

Health Geography is increasingly present in discussions related to the urban space, in view of its great contribution in the attempt at a holistic analysis of urban/health relations. Thus, the general objective that guided the construction of this study is to analyze the spatial distribution of notifiable diseases related to Basic Sanitation in the urban perimeter of the municipality of Boa Vista, capital of the state of Roraima (2010 - 2019). Based on this objective, it is emphasized that the spatial cut is limited to the urban perimeter of the referred municipality. With regard to methodological procedures, the research is deductive in nature, using exploratory and descriptive techniques, and a quali-quantitative approach. The results obtained through the present research revealed strong relationships between Inadequate Basic Sanitation (SBI) and the incidence of notifiable diseases, considering that the predominance of these diseases were verified and spatialized in the urban perimeter, revealing that the areas with the worst indicators of SBI are the locations that had the most occurrence of such diseases. Thus, the analysis of such sensitive issues in the municipal panorama is an important tool to help the understandings about the problems that deal with basic sanitation and population health, noting the various and multiple connections of these themes, relationships that can subsidize propositions on the theme and public policies that make access to basic services for maintaining health more equitable.

The Cauamé River Hydrography Basin (CRHB) concentrates most of the population of the state of Roraima, with important industrial and agropastoral activities that have progressively demanded the increasingly intense use of water resources and the exploration of hydrogeological reserves. Given this scenario, the need arises to search for new sources of underground deposits, since there is an intense exploitation of the existing granular aquifer. Thus, the subject of this research was the understanding of the exploratory feasibility of the fractured aquifers of the basin with remote sensing techniques and geospatial analysis tools, that have been used in Brazil in several works that seek the evaluation and correlation of morpho-structural characteristics with areas. with hydrogeological exploratory potential. Therefore, the objective of this study was the morpho-structural analysis of the landscape for the recognition of possible areas of exploratory feasibility in underground aquifers in fractured zones of the Cauamériver basin, based on the application of photointerpretation techniques in remote sensing, geomorphological data studies and the use of hydrogeological metadata, available in public domain sites, supported whit field work. The results obtained allowed us to conclude the existence of a morphological relationship between the topographic and potentiometric surfaces. The relationship between the landforms and the aquifer systems in the CRHB is that the Granular Domain is predominantly associated with Fluvial Plains and Terraces (Aptf) and Undifferentiated Genesis Planes (Pi), while the Fractured Domain is associated with the convex (Dc) and concave (Da) dissection, while Tabular Dissected (Dt) is sometimes associated with the Granular Domain, and sometimes with the Fractured Domain. The hydrogeological feasibility map identified two classes: Medium and High to Very High, in which the first constitutes almost 99% of the CRHB area, represented by all landforms, with the exception of Aptf, which falls in the upper class. very high and that occurs along the main channel of the Cauamé River, and its discontinuity is due to the presence of rocks from the Apoteri Formation. The results suggest that the actual condition of the aquifer present in the western part can left to one side by insufficient data from the wells. Given the relevance of providing detailed information on the characteristics of the reservoir for the implementation of adequate policies for the management underground source, it implies that more hydrogeological and geophysical studies are necessary to confirm its presence and extension, evaluating its viability of exploitation of this underground water. Finally hoping that the results of this study contribute to a sustainable management of these water resources in the region.

The formation of space is associated to the ways of production, which influence in the perception and valuation of lands. In this context, the Public Power plays an important function in the spatial organization process in cities. The norms on environmental protection and urban ordering, whose effectivity lies on the Public Power, proposes a control in relation to the usage of natural resources and its effects, ensuring the ecological and social equilibrium. The non-observancy of principles and devices be by action or omission (from enterprisers or public agents) may compromise the environmental quality. This environmental quality, related to the spatial conformation, is the starting point to the theme’s analysis, for in the geographic space it can be observed the realization of Society. Considering the comprehension of geographic space, alongside the transformations promoted by the man-society in the environment, one verifies that the implantation of a thermoelectric generator in a city, besides evidencing the way of production, results in landscape transformation. The present paper proposes itself then, to the discussion relative to electric energy and sustainable development as of the case of installation of a thermoelectric generator in isolated system in the Rorainópolis county, in the South of the state of Roraima. It is searched to contextualize the electric energy Generation with palm oil, approaching different scales of analysis, under a systemic focus, for the comprehension of landscape alterations, due to all the stages of this economic activity, as well as the transformations of socio spatial relations. Starting from the bibliographic and documental revision, the identification of the legal devices and pertinent public policies, well as the transmutations regionally verified. The expected results contemplate the verification of the processes associated to the ways of production which influenced in the spatial conformation of the study area, starting from the historical comprehension of the start of the occupation of lands in the South portion of Roraima, until the context of the implantation of the power plant, further on the transformations in the landscape promoted by this new productive circuit.

The generation of solid waste is intrinsic to human life, almost every human action generates some type of waste, either directly or indirectly. And over the years, the quantity and diversity of solid waste has grown, due to the economic and industrial transformations of recent decades. In this way, one must think about ways to dispose of waste in an environmentally appropriate way, to avoid socio- environmental impacts, in this sense, one of the most widespread techniques in the world is sanitary landfills. Therefore, this research aimed to select potential areas for the construction of a sanitary landfill for solid waste in the municipality of Boa Vista - Roraima, with a focus on minimizing socio-environmental impacts. Brazilian legislation has recommendations, rules and criteria that must be observed and followed when carrying out studies for leasing and building sanitary landfills, which aim to reduce and minimize socioenvironmental impacts and reduce operating costs. The process of choosing the criteria, as well as the definition of their restriction or aptitude, had as reference the legislation, technical norms, literature, availability of information, as well as the environmental and social importance of the criterion. The following were selected: distance from water resources, roads, population centers and airfields, existence of indigenous lands and areas of institutional use, degree of slope, land cover classes and soil suitability. To carry out the work, geotechnologies were used combined with multicriteria analysis, in which the AHP was chosen, as it is the method that best suits the objectives of this work, due to the possibility of integration of data and the combination of several attributes that can be obtained through the maps, in addition to allowing the hierarchical evaluation of the problem. With regard to the methodology of the work, it is emphasized that this proved to be satisfactory, since from the geotechnologies and the Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) method, it was possible to combine environmental, social and economic factors, which were later transformed into suitability and restriction criteria, making it possible to build a final product: the potential area map for the construction of the sanitary landfill. Regarding the results, it was identified that only 11% of the municipal territory was favorable for the implementation of the enterprise, and only 1% of the areas can be evaluated as optimal/suitable, a value that corresponds to only 6,740 hectares. The main restrictions of the municipality are related to the extensive drainage network of the municipality, formed mainly by streams and lakes. In addition, the Airport Security Area - ASA was a decisive factor for the unsuitability of areas, since the legislation determines an exclusion area of 20 km in geometric radius. Other decisive factors for the territory's inability are related to indigenous lands and settlement projects, which occupy a significant area. Therefore, the research opens the possibility for carrying out more in-depth studies, which can corroborate or refute the results presented here.
