SUMMARY:

I have a trajectory of 27 years dedicated to basic education, working as a pedagogue with specialization in Educational Psychology, Clinical and Institutional Neuropsychopedagogy, as well as being a Therapist in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). In the last three years, I have had the privilege of being part of Specialized Educational Assistance, where each day represents an opportunity for learning and growth, both for me and for the students served. The commitment lies in building a genuinely inclusive and welcoming educational environment, where each student feels valued and able to reach their full potential. At the same time, I seek to enhance my skills, reinforcing the importance of constantly preparing myself to meet the individual needs of each student as effectively as possible. In this context, the present research project aims to analyze the use of assistive technology in the literacy process, especially targeting students enrolled in the 2nd grade of elementary school who require diversified strategies. Assistive technology encompasses a variety of resources, such as specific applications, devices, and software, designed to support students with disabilities, including those with learning difficulties. The main objective of this study is to analyze how teachers have integrated assistive technology in promoting literacy, as well as to reflect on teachers' understanding of the use of these tools in the educational context. To this end, the investigative process aims to delve into the concept of assistive technology and its use in the literacy process of students with disabilities, including the types of assistive technology used, the strategies adopted, and the challenges faced in their implementation. Additionally, as part of this process, the studies seek to demonstrate how this pedagogical resource of assistive technology can contribute to the inclusion of these individuals in the school environment focused on the teaching and learning process, with a focus on literacy. Furthermore, aspects related to the training and support offered to teachers for the use of these technologies will be considered, aiming to understand if there are ongoing training actions by the educational network that contribute to thinking about the integration of these resources into schools and the dissemination of formative knowledge among teachers. Through a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews as data collection instruments, and content analysis, this research project aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of assistive technology in literacy, promoting the development of inclusive pedagogical practices.
