SUMMARY:

Introduction: Malnutrition is a multifactorial clinical-social disorder that in children under five years of age can compromise social, physiological and psychological development, in addition to influencing the risks of morbidity and mortality in childhood. The consequences of poor nutrition affect children's health conditions, reducing resistance to infection, increasing its duration and severity, as they reduce the supply of nutrients, through reduced appetite and increased losses at the intestinal level and through catabolism. metabolic. Epidemiological data demonstrate that in 2023 in the state of Roraima, 80% of hospitalizations for children under 4 years of age, diagnosed with malnutrition, were indigenous children. This finding is a reflection of the food insecurity and hunger present in several regions of the Yanomami Indigenous Territory (TIY), mainly affecting the child population. Preventable diseases are the main causes of mortality, with malnutrition being the most evident and related to the majority of deaths. Discussing malnutrition in childhood becomes a challenge, as the child is expected to grow and develop in favorable and healthy conditions, as opposed to a process that involves pain, suffering and stress. Objective: to understand the clinicalepidemiological and nutritional profile of hospitalized Yanomami children and their association with clinical, laboratory, sociodemographic factors, clinical outcomes and nutritional therapy. Methodology: This is an observational study, with a cross-sectional, retrospective and documentary design, which will be developed at Hospital da Criança Santo Antônio-HCSA through the analysis of data from medical records with children aged 1 to 59 months, of both sexes, of ethnic Yanomami hospitalized from 2019 to 2023. The sample comprises a total of 360 children, data collection will be through recording in medical records as a research instrument a clinical investigation questionnaire with the following variables: sex, age, clinical data from the examination physical (weight, height, temperature) laboratory assessment, region of origin upon admission of the patient, among others. The collected data will be structured, categorized, coded and recorded in Microsoft – Excel program spreadsheets and for treatment and analysis, the data will be transported to the EPI INFO ™ program version 7.2.5 using the resources of the “analysis” module to then be presented and analyzed based on the decomposition of the health field into four broad components: human biology, environment, lifestyle and organization of health care. Expected results: It is believed that this research could contribute to issues related to the nutritional management of malnutrition within the institution. In this way, it will be possible to reflect on professional decision-making, considering the importance and need for a strategy guide for screening, treatment, monitoring and nutritional discharge of child malnutrition that goes beyond the limits of the assistance professional, thus reaching the entire the institutional environment. Furthermore, it is expected to publish the results in the form of a conclusive technical report.
