This work proposes a strategy to facilitate the teaching of geometric optics in physics class. This work was developed based on David Ausubel and Lev Vygotsky theories. The educational product was applied to a high school class at Escola Estadual Boa Esperança, located in Boa Esperança village (vicinal 16) in the Rorainópolis county, south of the Roraima state. This place was chosen because of its different reality from most schools present in large urban centers. The information collected in this research is qualitative, i.e., we trying to understand how the students learn geometric optics. The tool used in this journey was an "aquarium" and a simple commercial laser. The laser was used as a light source that shows a phenomenon of interest. This work was motivated by the village reality, we observe the need to involve high school youth in the development of new knowledge through experiments, guiding them to reflect on their experiences, and think of possible solutions in the search for knowledge, enabling a transformative intervention.
