SUMMARY:

Scientific development is constantly changing and, together, technological advances as well. In turn, we face some obstacles regarding textbooks in schools that cannot keep up with these developments and, in turn, many of these books do not include them in their current versions, as is the case of gravitational waves that were observed in 2015 by LIGO, but this new physical object has not been included in textbooks so far. Thus, the inclusion of this subject would bring an enrichment and an update on the knowledge involving the distinct nature of waves within the wave phenomena. Based on this scenario, a didactic sequence will be applied following Moreira's idea and Leontiev's theory of activity to insert gravitational waves within the study of the different types of waves as to their nature within the 2nd year of high school. According to BNCC, research processes and practices deserve special attention. These, in turn, influence teachers to seek attractive didactics, different from the traditional one. However, what is perceived in the teaching of physics is the traditional teaching methodology prevailing, as a result of the fragility of the Brazilian education system, hindering the teaching-learning process..
